For once, I was up before sunrise on a Saturday, and spent some time trying to get some interesting images of the backlit clouds. None of them really stood out, so after a while I started taking shots of the sun rising up through the large trees. As it started to rise above them, I was playing with various manual shutter and aperture settings, and got what I felt was a good balance on this shot.

On the post processing note, this is the first image I’ve managed and processed after moving to Adobe Lightroom after using Apple’s Aperture on the Mac. I don’t currently have a large library, so the switch over is not onerous. I’m finding some things are better/easier than Aperture, and some things that were useful in Aperture aren’t available in Lightroom. Overall, though, I think the move will be to a long term advantage.

St Anne’s Church, Ryde, NSW

I was wandering around the church, and liked this view of straight lines. I’m not sure what purpose the door is for, as the main door is out of frame to the left – more than likely it’s for the sacristy or something like that.
